Botswana follow suit and suspend all football related activities

Botswana have now become the sixth African country to suspend all football related activities despite not having had any confirmed cases yet.

Due to the spread of the coronavirus, many countries around the world have suspended sports activities to avoid large gatherings.

Countries in Europe, South and North America and Asia have already postponed their competitions and now as the cases slowly rise around the continent many African countries have decided to do the same.

Botswana haven’t had a confirmed COVID-19 case, however neighboring countries South Africa and Namibia have a total of 53 confirmed cases.

As a precaution, the country’s football federation therefore decided to halt all football activities until April 10. The decision was made following an emergency meeting that took place on March 12, in the federation’s headquarters.

They now become the sixth African country to temporarily stop its local competitions after DR Congo, Morocco, Egypt, Ghana and Algeria,
