Egypt team manager identifies most important thing from Botswana win

Egypt team manager Mohamed Barakat has commented on Egypt’s narrow 1-0 victory over Botswana in friendly, stating that the main positive point is identifying the team’s points of weakness.

Hamdy Fathi’s goal was the difference in Egypt’s 1-0 victory against Botswana as Hossam El-Badry marked his Egypt National team debut.

This was El-Badrys first encounter as Egypt boss following his appointment back in September.

The former Al Ahly manager had stated that it was very important to achieve the victory even though there are some things that are missing the team.

“It is very good to start your course with a victory. We held ball possession in major parts of the game but the more important thing was to observe our weaknesses,” Barakat told ON Sport.

“In the first half Botswana closed down well and we failed in creating sufficient number of chances. This is what the coaching staff works on right now.”

“Kenya will face us [in the AFCON qualifiers] with the same approach and we have to work on breaking them down.”
