Auxerre keen on landing ex-Al Ahly forward Aliou Badji – Report

Auxerre Aliou Badji

Ligue 1 outfit Auxerre are reportedly lining up a move for former Al Ahly centre-forward Aliou Badji in the current transfer window.

Badji had joined French side Amiens on a one-year loan deal from Al Ahly last summer with the club having the option to make the deal permanent for a fee of $1.8 million.

The 24-year-old impressed in his debut season for Amiens in Ligue 2 scoring a total of 13 goals and providing three assists in 26 games.

As a result, Amiens triggered the option to sign Badji on a permanent deal last month and extend his stay at the club for another year.

However, it seems Badji could be departing Amiens with Ligue 1 outfit Auxerre emerging as interested suitors for the Senegalese.

According to a report by L’Equipe, Auxerre are prepared to submit a bid in the region of €4 million to acquire Badji’s services.

The report also added that Badji has decided to join Auxerre and even went on strike at Amiens to try and force a move soon.

Badji joined Al Ahly from Austria’s Rapid Vienna in January of 2020 and had performed well under former head coach Rene Weiler.

However, with the arrival of South African manager Pitso Mosimane months later, Badji fell down the pecking order to Marwan Mohsen, Mohamed Sherif, and Walter Bwalya.
