Al Ahly loanee Aliou Badji nominated for Ligue 2 Player of the Month

Badji

After an impressive month of February with Amiens SC, Al Ahly loanee Aliou Badji was nominated for the Ligue 2 Player of the Month Award.

Badji joined Al Ahly during the tenure of former head coach Rene Weiler. However, he didn’t impress his successor, Pitso Mosimane, who preferred the likes of Marwan Mohsen, Mohamed Sherif, and Walter Bwalya over him.

Badji was, therefore, sent on a loan in January 2021 to then-Turkish Super Lig outfit MKE Ankaragücü, where he also had a poor run.

Upon his return to Cairo, the 24-year-old was immediately sent on another loan, this time to Ligue 2’s Amiens SC.

The striker is having a phenomenal season in France, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 23 games across the league and cup.

His best period yet was during the month of February, having scored four goals in a month where Amiens went unbeaten in four games.

This earned Badji a nomination for the Ligue 2 Player of the Month Award, where he will be competing with Toulouse midfielder Branco Van Den Boomen and Paris FC forward Morgan Guilavogui.

It’s worth mentioning that Amiens have the option to buy the Senegalese striker. It was reported that the deal will cost Amiens around $450,000, with the club having the option to make the deal permanent for a fee of $1.8 million.
