OFFICIAL: Ligue 2 side sign Al Ahly striker Badji on loan

 Badji

Ligue 2 outfit Amiens SC have announced the signing of Al Ahly and Senegal striker Aliou Badji on a one-year loan with an option to buy.

Badji came in the tenure of former Al Ahly boss Rene Weiler; however, he didn’t impress his successor Pitso Mosimane, who preferred the likes of Marwan Mohsen, Mohamed Sherif, and Walter Bwalya over him.

After scoring and assisting on his league debut against Pyramids FC, things seemed to be going well for the Senegal international.

However, his performances started noticeably dropping as he was able to find the back of the net on just three occasions after that, in 23 appearances.

He was, therefore, sent on loan to Turkish Super Lig outfit MKE Ankaragücü, where he suffered a similar fate, as not only was he not clinical in front of goal, but he was unable to save his side from relegation after finishing third to last in the league.

The 23-year-old will hope to return to his old form next season, which caught the Red Devils’ attention in the first place, and help Amiens push for a Ligue 1 promotion, having finished their last season in 10th place.

Badji will spend the season on loan with an option to buy. It was reported earlier this month that the deal will cost Amiens around $450,000, with the club having the option to make the deal permanent for a fee of $1.8 million.
