Al Ahly have imposed another hefty fine on Hussein El-Shahat valued at half a million Egyptian Pound following the Pyramids FC game incident.
The Red Devils suffered their first loss of the season against Pyramids FC with a scoreline of 3-0 at the 30 June Stadium on Sunday.
Despite Al Ahly already winning the title and the game being considered as a dead rubber, tensions arose during the game between players and coaching staff.
Pyramids FC’s Moroccan player Mohamed Chibi was the centre of attention after entering more than one altercation with Al Ahly players.
Following the end of the game, Hussein El-Shahat was seen slapping Chibi as the Al Ahly player claim that the Moroccan insulted him and his family.
Despite El-Shahat going to the dressing room to apologize to Chibi after the game, Al Ahly & EFA still impsoed fines on the winger.
Al Ahly released an official statement announcing that El-Shahat has been fined 500,000 EGP, taking into account the player’s acknowledgment of the mistake and his apology for what happened.
The fine comes after El-Shahat was also fined 220,000 EGP by the EFA as well as getting suspended two games.
Al Ahly’s full statement:
“Mahmoud El-Khatib, the club president and general supervisor of football, held a meeting this afternoon with the planning committee, chaired by Mohsen Saleh and including Zakaria Nassef. The meeting was attended by Hossam Ghaly, a board member, and Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, the football director.
“During the meeting, the club president discussed the report presented by the football director regarding the unacceptable incidents that occurred at the June 30 Stadium after the match two days ago.
“While the club has achieved the desires of its fans this season in the championships it participated in and had an outstanding season, this should not serve as an excuse to allow any of the system’s elements to deviate from established regulations.
“Therefore, it has been decided to fine Hussein El-Shahat, the first-team football player, half a million Egyptian Pound, taking into account the player’s acknowledgment of the mistake and his apology for what happened.
“The planning committee urges the Egyptian Football Association and its various committees, as well as the Professional Clubs Association, to double their efforts and work towards establishing justice and implementing the sports regulations according to uniform and clear standards in administrative, organizational, disciplinary, and financial aspects for all clubs alike.
“There should be effective steps taken to develop and support the refereeing system before the start of the new football season and to make the best use of modern technology and video assistant referees to reduce controversial errors. It is crucial, especially since some referees still do not deal firmly with players who commit mistakes and provoke crises.
“Al Ahly has repeatedly demanded in several previous correspondences the attention to the refereeing system, and it continues to look forward to a response, keen on the principle of equal opportunities and the public interest of Egyptian football.”
