VIDEO: Sam Morsy scores incredible 95th minute equaliser for Ipswich Town

Egypt international Sam Morsy has opened his Premier League scoring account with an incredible 95th-minute equaliser against Southampton.

The draw kept Ipswich Town outside of the relegation zone and denied Southampton their first Premier League win of the season.

As usual, Sam Morsy started the game and captained Ipswich at the St Mary’s Stadium as he had to deal with a Southampton midfield consisting of Adam Lallana, Flynn Downes, and Matues Fernandes.

The hosts started on the right foot and took the lead after just five minutes through Tyler Dibling, who latched on to a brilliant Adam Lallana pass, before putting the ball past Muric in goal.

With a very early goal and Cameron Archer also hitting the post in the 27th minute, many thought that Southampton will have a clear route to their first three points of the season.

The second half was very similar to the first with Archer and Brereton Diaz missing massive opportunities for Southampton and Muric coming out to keep Ipsiwch in the game.

With two minutes left on the final whistle, Ipswich won a corner, which was cleared away to fall to Sam Morsy on the edge of the box for the Egyptian to smash the ball past Aaron Ramsdale after a small deflection.

Ipswich now sit 16th in the Premier League with three points from five games, still searching for their first win of the season, while Southampton remain in the relegation zone with just one point.

The goal made Sam Morsy the tenth Egyptian to score in the Premier League after Mohamed Salah, Mido, Amr Zaki, Mahmoud Trezeguet, Ahmed Elmohamady, Ramadan Sobhi, Ahmed Hegazi, Hossam Ghaly, and Mohamed Elneny.

Sam Morsy has now also equalled Mohamed Elneny’s (91 games) and Hossam Ghaly’s (36 games) goal tally in the Premier League in just five games.

Overall, it took the Egyptians’ goalscoring tally to 213, with Mohamed Salah scoring 160 and Mido in second place with 22 strikes ahead of Amr Zaki’s ten goals for Wigan Athletic.
