Mido: Crimes are committed every minute against Palestinians

Former Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Ahmed Hossam Mido has delivered a strong message condemning the attacks on Gaza.

With the death toll rising in Gaza, a number of Egyptian footballers have publicly shown their solidarity with Palestinians.

Mohamed Salah recently broke his silence on the situation and urged world leaders to provide humanitarian aid for Gaza.

Just hours later, Mido became the latest to voice his opinion on the matter and suggested there was a lot of misinformation being reported in the media.

The 40-year-old also slammed European clubs for taking disciplinary action against their own players for supporting the Palestinian cause.

“Usually, I present this programme in Arabic since most of my audience is, of course, from the Middle East and North Africa,” Mido said on Al-Nahar TV.

“However, this evening I’ve decided to deliver my words in English, hoping that my message could reach every human being.

“Palestine is suffering and has been suffering for years, and it is our duty to reveal the truth. Crimes are committed every minute against isolated Palestinian citizens, including children and women, who are subjected to the most powerful forms of attacks by the Israeli army.

“As I’m speaking to you now, the Israeli forces are attacking civilians and hospitals in Gaza, and just today, more than 500 children have lost their lives.

“This is the truth and the only truth. These are the facts that your media is hiding from you today.

“Unfortunately, I learned that some European clubs have taken harsh punishments against their own players who expressed their solidarity with their Palestinian brothers.

“Please stop silencing their voices, give your players the freedom to express their opinions, the freedom that you only allow and use whenever it is serving your purposes. God bless Palestine and the Palestinian people,” he added.
