José Gomes stresses equality among Zamalek players

New Zamalek head coach José Gome, emphasized after their match against Ismaily that there are no old players or new signings in his team, and everyone is equal to him.

The White Knights stumbled in their first match under the guidance of the new coach, settling for a point against the Dervishes, where they lost two valuable points.

The match saw a result that had been absent for 15 matches, which is a draw. The last draw between the two teams was in May 2017.

José Gomes told ON Time Sports post-match: “At times, the performance was good, and we created chances beautifully, but in the end, a draw is a draw, and we came out of the match with a point.

“We were playing away from home against a large crowd for the Ismaily team, but we also heard the voice of Zamalek’s fans in the stands while we were on the bench.

He continued, “For me, all Zamalek players are one, there is no old player or new signing because I found all the players here from the very first day I arrived.

The Portuguese concluded, “The team’s defensive approach has improved, and in the upcoming period, I will need the players to exert more effort.”

Gomes will face his first African test with Zamalek against Abu Salem of Libya in the fifth round of the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup next Sunday, February 25th.
