OFFICIAL: Zamalek revoke Mortada Mansour’s membership

Zamalek’s board of directors, chaired by Hussein Labib, issued a decision to revoke the membership of ex-club president Mortada Mansour.

Mortada Mansour served as club president from 2014 to 2023, before being replaced by Hussein Labib following the October 2023 elections.

In a meeting held between the club’s board of directors on Sunday evening, one of the decisions involved discussing “a complaint lodged against Mortada Mansour in his role as a club official.”

The verdict of the meeting was “the cancellation of the membership of Mortada Ahmed Mansour due to his lack of compliance with the conditions for acquiring active membership under the provisions of Articles 8 and 12 of the Statute Regulations,” according to the statement.

The third clause of Article 8 of Zamalek Club’s statute states that a “member” shall not be deprived of exercising their civil rights, and no final judgments have been issued against them for a criminal penalty or misdemeanor in a crime that violates honor or trust.

The fourth clause of Article 8 states that a member of the Zamalek Club must have a good reputation and a clean record.

Based on the third and fourth clauses of Article 8, the “termination of membership” in Article 12 stipulates that membership shall be terminated if any of the previously mentioned conditions are no longer met.

Indeed, Mortada Mansour has been definitively sentenced to one month in prison for slander and defamation against Al Ahly’s president Mahmoud El-Khatib, which Zamalek’s board relied on to revoke his membership.
