Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, has revealed the behind-the-scenes details of the Egypt Cup final match between Al Ahly and Zamalek.
The Egyptian Football Association, in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, announced the staging of the Cairo derby in the final of the 2022-2023 Egypt Cup in Riyadh.
Turki Al-Sheikh said on MBC Masr channel: “There will be big surprises in the Egypt Cup final, along with pre-match festivities, and tickets allocated for the Egyptian audience.
“We spoke with the director of the 2022 World Cup final to produce the Egypt Cup final in Riyadh season, and there will be a joint broadcast of the highest quality.
In response to Amr Adib, saying, “I want Zamalek to win the match,” Turki Al-Sheikh replied, saying: “I want Al Ahly to win.”
The Egypt Cup final match will take place on March 8th at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh as part of the Riyadh Season festivities, marking the first time hosting the Egypt Cup final outside the country.
While Al Ahly secured their spot in the final with a 3-0 win over ENPPI, Zamalek emerged victorious against Pyramids after an intense penalty shootout. Al Ahly aims to secure their 39th title in history, while Zamalek eyes their 29th title.
Turki Al-Sheikh expressed his anticipation for a historic match, wishing success for both teams and emphasizing the significance of the event for Egyptian football.
