Al Ahly

Al Ahly’s 2005 team clinched a 2-0 victory against arch-rivals Zamalek in the second phase of the Republic League.

The Derby, held at Helmy Zamora Stadium in Met Okba, saw Zamalek’s president, Hussein Labib, in attendance.

Al Ahly took the lead in the 27th minute through Mohamed Ahmed Saad, capitalizing on a one-on-one opportunity.

Mohamed Raafat then added the second goal in the 82nd minute, seizing upon another opportunity denied by the Zamalek goalkeeper.

The match saw the presence of Jose Gomez, Zamalek’s new head coach, observing the game closely, with Ugandan wonderkid Travis Mutyaba also making his Whites’ debut.

Moreover, Egypt youth team boss Wael Riyad and the coaching staff also attended the game as part of their keenness to follow up on the 2005-born players.
