VIDEO: Elmo inspires Hull to first derby victory at Leeds in 25 years

Ahmed Elmohamady scored a goal and assisted twice to lead Hull City to a 3-2 victory over rivals Leeds United at Elland Road for the first time since 1987.

The Egyptian international continues to repay Steve Bruce’s faith after putting in a third straight impressive performance since joining Hull on loan from Sunderland in the end of August.

Hull boss Bruce was the manager who brought Elmohamady to Sunderland from petroleum-side ENPPI two years ago.

Hosts Leeds took an early lead in the eight-minute through a controversial penalty scored by Luciano Becchio.

Elmohamady leveled the score for the Tigers in the 23rd minute with crisp drive from just inside the box across Paddy Kenny into the bottom corner of the net.

Six minutes later, the Egypt right wing-back turned provider as his pinpoint cross to the far post found the head of Abdoulaye Faye who guided a brilliant header past Kenny to give Hull the lead.

Elmohamady continued his wonderful play down the right in the second half, delivering another fine cross to the back post for Jay Simpson, who headed just wide.

Corry Evans then found Elmo overlapping on the right, who then dished out Hull’s third after squaring the ball right along the box to Robert Koren for a simple finish.

Andy Gray scored a late for Leeds to give Hull a late scare, but the Tigers held to on to claim their third win on the trot.

The Tigers’ impressive form since the arrival of Elmohamady has them now at fourth place, only one point adrift of leaders Blackburn and level with Adam El-Abd’s Brighton.

On Elmo’s impressive form, Steve Bruce said to the club’s official website, “He did very well for me [at Sunderland] and I knew he would do very, very well in the Championship.”

“He’s a good lad and he wants to play football. He’s had a good start here and the system suits him, he plays the same position for Egypt and he plays it very well.

Elmohamady recently revealed a clause in the loan deal that would allow his move from Sunderland to become permanent if the Tigers achieve promotion this season.
