In an interview with Alhayat TV, Egyptian right wing-back Ahmed Elmohamady reveals his ambition to achieve promotion with Hull City in order to seal a permanent move with the Tigers.
Egyptian international Ahmed Elmohamady said on Wednesday his goal is to help Championship side Hull City achieve promotion to the Premier League, but stressed the fierce competition in England’s 2nd tier with “Bolton, Blackburn, Wolverhampton and Brighton – the club with Adam El-Abd,” he said.
“I want to establish myself with Hull City and I hope to help the club to return to the Premier League,” Elmohamady said in an interview with Zamalek legend Hazem Emam on Alhayat TV.
“God help me with them (Hull) this year so that they’ll play in the Premier League next season; because there is an option in my contract, if Hull are promoted to the Premier League, they have the option to buy me from Sunderland,” he added.
In response to the question on whether Hull’s Egyptian chairman Assem Allam seeks to bring additional Egyptian talent to the KC Stadium, Elmo revealed that Assem personally knows legendary goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary (who was on trial at Hull last summer), Shikabala and Mohamed Zidan, claiming that Hull attempted to lure the latter on a free transfer this summer, before the controversial striker signed for Bani Yas in the UAE.
“He (Assem) told me that he tried to sign Zidan but couldn’t reach an agreement.”
“But he told me that the mentality of Egyptian players needs to change. That’s his only concern regarding this issue,” Elmohamady concluded.
‘Elmo’ reunited with former boss Steve Bruce after signing on a season-long loan with Hull City the day before the summer transfer window closed, following a stressful season on the bench for Sunderland in the English Premier League.
The Egyptian international made his debut for the Tigers in a 3-1 win over Bolton just before the international break.
Speaking to Hull City’s official website, Steve Bruce praised Elmo and added, “he had a wonderful debut.”
