Al Ahly have completed the signing of ES Setif and Algeria midfielder Ahmed Kendouci, the club announced on Saturday.

Ahmed Kendouci becomes Al Ahly’s fourth January acquisition following the arrivals of Khaled Abdel-Fattah, Marwan Ateya, and Mohamed Dhaoui.

Having been a long-term transfer target for Al Ahly, the Red Devils finally managed to secure the signing of Kendouci on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Kendouci had an outstanding season with ES Setif in the CAF Champions League last year, reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

His performances inspired ES Setif to become the surprise package in Africa, defeating Tunisia giants Esperance in the quarter-finals.

With an impressive tally of seven goals and six assists in 40 games across all competitions, Kendouci’s displays attracted interest from Al Ahly.

The 23-year-old is currently on international duty, taking part in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) as his country lead Group A with nine points.

However, local reports have confirmed that Kendouci could still feature for Al Ahly in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco.

Al Ahly will meet New Zealand giants Auckland City in their opening game of the tournament on Wednesday, February 1st.
