Algeria at full strength as they announce 2021 AFCON squad

Algeria national team head coach, Djamel Belmadi, announced his 28-man squad set to compete in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), in Cameroon.

The defending champions were drawn in Group E alongside Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Sierre Leone, who play their first AFCON since 1996, whom they will face in the opening game on 11 January.

Belmadi decided to include nine players who recently won the Arab Cup including Baghdad Bounedjah, Yacine Brahimi, Youcef Belaili, and Sofiane Bendebka.

Six defenders who were also part of the squad that won the Arab made the cut in Ilyes Chetti, Houcine Benayda, Mohamed Amine Tougai, Djamel Benlamri, Mehdi Tahrat, Abdelkader Bedrane.

As for the foreign-based players, les Verts will have their biggest stars such as Riyad Mahrez, Said Benrahma, Ismael Bennacer, Soufiane Feghouli, and Adam Ounas to name a few.
