OFFICIAL: Chaabani resigns as Cleopatra FC manager to take over Espérance

Tunisian manager Moine Chaabani has resigned from his role as head coach at Ceramica Cleopatra FC to take charge of Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

The two-time African champions had taken charge of Ceramica Cleopatra since only last January, taking charge of the team in 12 games.

Two wins, eight draws, and only two losses were enough for him to stir Cleopatra FC away from the relegation zone as they currently sit 12th with 31 points, four away from danger.

Despite improving the team’s results, Chaabani decided to resign from his post and take charge of Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

His appointment comes after the sacking of Nabil Maaloul following the team’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Al Ahly in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.

Chaabani is considered one of the greatest managers to take over Esperance in recent years, leading them to five consecutive Tunisian league titles between 2017 to 2021.

He also guided them to two Tunisian Super Cups and two CAF Champions Leagues in 2018 and 2019.
