Mamelodi Sundowns star Gaston Sirino still 'dreams' of Al Ahly move

Mamelodi Sundowns’ forward Gaston Sirino hasn’t given up on joining Al Ahly, saying playing for the Cairo giants is his dream.

Sirino was heavily linked with a transfer to Al Ahly, as the player desired a reunion with former head coach Pitso Mosimane.

The 30-year-old even publicly expressed his desire to leave Mamelodi Sundowns and join the Red Devils.

However, the move never came to fruition and the Uruguayan ended up staying in South Africa, as both club were unable to agree on a transfer fee.

And it seems like Sirino hasn’t moved on as the Uruguayan blatantly revealed his desire once again to join Al Ahly, while confirming there are no contacts between both clubs at the moment.

“My contract with Sundowns expires in two seasons,” Sirino told ON Sports.

“My relationship is great with Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane as he was the one to sign me for Sundowns; however, I haven’t been in communication with him for a while because of the circumstances,”

“I hope that negotiations go easier if it’s renewed between Al Ahly and Sundowns. I will try to connect the two boards to each other and bring their views closer because my dream is to play for Al Ahly, who have a great history in Africa and internationally.

“There are no contacts at the moment, but there were contacts earlier. I pray to God that the Sundowns’ board will be more flexible this time if negotiations are renewed.

“I don’t care about age because I feel that my physical fitness is excellent, and I work on myself well, so I don’t worry about the age factor.

“Against Al Ahly, my coach didn’t give me the space to appear more offensively, but I think I played well.

“Why Al Ahly? Because it is one of the best clubs on the continent and in the world and has a great history. Therefore, playing for Al Ahly is a dream of mine.

“I cannot say for sure who has the greatest chance of winning the Champions League final this season. I wish both teams success.
