Salah too difficult to handle, says AC Milan manager

AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca praised Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah after their UEFA Champions League clash.

Liverpool secured a 3-1 victory over AC Milan at San Siro in their Champions League opener.

Goals from Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the win, while Christian Pulisic netted AC Milan’s only goal.

Despite Salah not getting on the scoresheet, Fonseca admitted that the forward caused significant problems for AC Milan’s defense, particularly left-back Theo Hernandez.

In the post-match press conference, Fonseca said: “Especially trying to tackle Salah, trying to limit his movements. Salah and other players are the most difficult players to stop.”

“In one-on-one situations, in the individual game, and in other phases, we really struggled.”

This victory was a crucial bounce-back for Liverpool following their recent loss to Nottingham Forest.

They will next face Bournemouth at Anfield on September 21, 2024, at 5 PM CET.
