And it looks like the Saudis are closing in on getting their man after agreeing personal teams with the 25-year-old French winger which will see him sign a five-year deal.
The news was broken by French reporter Fabrice Hawkings who revealed also that the whole deal could cost Ittihad Jeddah €55M including bonuses with the final details being finalized.
Following a disastrous title-defending campaign, Ittihad Jeddah are trying to rebuild its squad for their new manager Laurent Blanc to compete again for the Saudi Pro League after finishing fifth last season.
The club has already completed the signing of AS Roma midfielder Houssem Aouar are now pushing for Diaby, who has 11 French caps to his name.
If the deal is completed, Diaby will become the fourth French player in the Ittihad squad alongside Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, and the recent signing Aouar.
Diaby joined Aston Villa last season from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee in excess of €50m, helping the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League by scoring six goals and assisting eight in 38 Premier League games.
He originally came through the youth ranks of PSG, before joining Leverkusen in July 2019.
