Mamelodi Sundowns boss Rulani Mokwena believes Al Ahly were lucky to win the CAF Champions League last season.
The Masandawana came up short in their quest for the Champions League title last season after losing on away goals to Wydad Casablanca in the semi-finals.
However, Sundowns look to dethrone reigning champions Al Ahly this year following a near-perfect start to their African campaign.
They currently lead Group A on goal difference, suffering just one defeat to TP Mazembe in the second round of the group stages.

Speaking before their final group game on Saturday, Mokwena talked about his side’s chances in the competition and revealed they need Al Ahly’s luck, referring to their fortunate turn of events last year.
Al Ahly were nearly eliminated from their group but made it through in the end, thanks to a late penalty save from Sundowns skipper Ronwen Williams against Al Hilal.
“You need a lot of luck [to win the Champions League]. You need to only look at last season with Al Ahly,” Mokwena said via IOL.

“Just look at the Ivory Coast story [in the Africa Cup of Nations]. Already out [from the group stages], coach out and then these people qualify and go on to ride the crest of that wave. Same with Al Ahly.
“Even our African Football League victory and how we made it. We go to Egypt [in the semi-final second leg against Al Ahly], get a late penalty against us and play with 10 men.
“You then need to be brave and show courage if you are to win the Champions League. You’ve got to be there – get to the quarter-final and the semi-final.
“But go one game at a time, one stage at a time, and perform right there and then. And hopefully, the football gods smile at you,” he added.
