The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) have announced the sacking of Rigobert Song as the national team head coach.
Cameroon suffered a disappointing exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after losing 2-0 to Nigeria in the round of 16.
They also had a poor run in the group stages managing just one win against Gambia and a draw with Guinea.
Their poor performances led FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o to opt against a contract extension for Rigobert Song, who now departs his role after two years in charge.
“We have not achieved our objectives, and our executive committee and I do not see ourselves renewing the contract,” Eto’o told France 24.
“Song brought a lot to this team. Now we have to think about the future.”
