Saudi Pro League club Al Qadisiyah is targeting a deal for Boca Juniors and Argentina U23 midfielder Ezequiel Fernández.
The Argentine midfielder has a $15 million release clause, according to renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Al Qadisiyah are offering to pay that release clause over three installments but they could still trigger the release clause if no deal is reached with Boca Juniors.
Fernández, a 21-year-old midfielder, has been a regular for Boca Juniors and is part of the Argentina squad heading to take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Several European clubs were monitoring the player’s services, including Arsenal and Portuguese giants FC Porto and Benfica, but it looks like he will now head to Saudi Arabia instead.
Fernández made 67 appearances for Boca Juniors since coming through the youth ranks of the club, while also playing one season out on loan at Club Atlético Tigre, where he played further 42 games.
Having earned promotion to the Saudi Pro League last season, Al Qadisiyah have started the summer transfer window with a bang, bringing in Euro winner Nacho Fernandez from Real Madrid.
The club also signed Uruguay international Nahitan Nández, Belgian keeper Koen Casteels from Wolfsburg, and Mexican striker Julián Quiñones. They are also on their way to sign Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Marseille.
