Al Ahly’s Hussein El-Shahat expressed his delight with their victory over Ittihad Jeddah in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals.
The Red Devils earned a convincing 3-1 win over Ittihad in the tournament’s quarter-finals to set up a clash against Fluminense.
Ali Maaloul gave Al Ahly the breakthrough from a first-half penalty before goals from Hussein El-Shahat and Emam Ashour put the game to bed with Karim Benzema grabbing a late consolation.
El-Shahat’s strike was his fourth in a record 13 Club World Cup appearances as he reached a new milestone having scored in four different tournament editions.
“I think you cannot underestimate Ittihad but we prepared well for them,” El-Shahat told SSC Sports after the game.
“We showed them enough respect and managed to maintain our concentration levels from start to finish. Al Ahly always turn up in big games.”
