Szymon Marciniak to referee Al Ahly’s Club World Cup semi-final

Renowned Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will officiate Al Ahly’s Club World Cup semi-final against Fluminense on Monday night, as announced by FIFA.

The Red Devils progressed to the semi-final by defeating hosts Al Ittihad 3-1 in Jeddah, with Ali Maaloul, Hussein El Shahat, and Emam Ashour all getting their names on the scoresheet for Marcel Koller’s men.

Marciniak, who became a FIFA referee in 2011, is regarded as one of the world’s best referees at the moment. He took charge of the famous 2022 World Cup final between Argentina and France, before being assigned the 2023 Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter six months later, thus making history in becoming only the second referee to officiate both games in the same season.

The game is set to kick-off on Monday 18th of December, at 20:00 Cairo Local Time.
