VIDEO: Sam Morsy scores winner as Ipswich Town go top of Championship

Egypt international and Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy scored his team’s winner against Watford on Tuesday night, as the Tractor Boys continue their scintillating form this season by going top of the EFL Championship.

Kieran McKenna’s men found themselves behind inside the opening 12 minutes, when 20-year-old Yaser Asprilla put Watford ahead.

However, George Hirst scored his sixth goal of the season to make it 1-1 with 24 minutes on the clock, with a finish from close range.

It was Morsy who then found the winner with only ten minutes remaining, as he capitalised on Watford captain Wesley Hoedt’s heavy touch to snatch the ball and finish past Ben Hamer in goal to take his side top of the EFL Championship ahead of Leicester City.

Ipswich Town, who were promoted from League One in 2022/23, have been praised for their style of play, which has seen them score a whopping 45 goals in 21 games.
