Former legendary goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary is considering coming out of retirement after receiving an offer.
Only a few months after his official retirement from football announcement and a few days after insisting he is not coming back to football, El-Hadary, 47, has admitted that he is thinking about going back on his decision.
This came after the veteran shot-stopper received an offer from newly-established Egyptian team ZED FC.
“I have received an offer from ZED FC to make a comeback to football once again,” stated El-Hadary in an interview with Egyptian Sports channel ON Time Sports.
“I will make my decision after an upcoming meeting with the club’s board. I won’t make this hard decision unless it will be of benefit to myself and my footballing career,” he concluded.
ZED FC are currently registered in the fourth tier of Egyptian football, preparing for their first-ever season under the Egyptian Football Federation.
However, there are currently negotiations going on between the club’s board and the owners of Egyptian outfit FC Masr, who were recently relegated to the second division, about a possible club purchase and rebranding.
El-Hadary had an illustrious footballing career with the Egyptian national team, having won three consecutive Africa Cup of Nations titles between 2006 and 2010.
The former Al Ahly shot-stopper also became the oldest goalkeeper to play in a FIFA World Cup after starting in Egypt’s 2-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia in 2018.
