Egypt women’s national team beat Lebanon, reach Arab Cup semis

Egypt’s women’s national team have beaten Lebanon in their second group stage match to secure a spot in the Women’s Arab Cup semifinals.

Egypt is currently participating in the first Arab Women’s Cup, taking place in Cairo between 24 August and 6 September.

The Pharaohs were placed in the same group as Sudan, Lebanon, and Tunisia, while Group B comprised of only Jordan, Algeria, and Palestine.

The leaders of each group will face the runners-up of the other group on September 3rd in the semifinals, with the winner playing in the final three days later.

Egypt started their campaign with a humiliating 10-0 win against Sudan in the opening game, in a match that saw Nadine Ghazi score four goals.

Arab Cup

Their second game was against Lebanon and they were once again dominant throughout the full 90 minutes and managed to secure a comfortable 4-0 win.

Egypt’s scorers were Salwa Metwally, Dana Nada, Yasmine Abo Elgud and once again Nadine Ghazi.

Egypt now top Group A with six points, behind them sit Tunisia who were held to a goalless draw against Lebanon, before beating Sudan 12-1.
