Mostafa Mohamed’s move to Bordeaux falls through

Mostafa Mohamed

Despite having the medical test done, Mostafa Mohamed’s move from Galatasaray to FC Girondins de Bordeaux is set to fail due to Zamalek disapproval.

The 23-year-old had an extraordinary debut season with Galatasaray, scoring nine goals [eight in the Super Lig + one in the Turkish Cup) in 17 appearances.

He almost led the Turkish giants to the league title; however, they lost the title by just one goal to arch-rivals Beşiktaş, and therefore they finished second, taking part in next year’s UEFA Champions League.

It appears that the Zamalek loanee has, however, fallen down the pecking order this season as he only started three of their seven games this season so far.

His only goal contribution came when he assisted a goal in his team’s draw with Randers FC in the Europa League qualifiers.

Despite having less playtime with the Turkish giants, Mostafa attracted the eyes of many clubs, most notably Ligue 1 Bordeaux.

Bordeaux have reached advanced negotiations stage with Galatasaray to the point where Mostafa has already undergone the medical test with the French club.

However, the negotiations fell through when Zamalek disapproved the move due to Galatasaray not sending the full $4m [player’s buying option price] to the White Knights.
