Pitso Mosimane announces his contract plans and praises Abdelmoniem

KingFut.com editor Ahmad Yousef spoke with Pitso Mosimane, in an exclusive interview with ‘On the Whistle Podcast‘, who stated he would be “surprised” if he did not renew his contract and expresses his delight at the rise of Abdelmoniem.

With five months left on his contract at Al Ahly speculation had gathered around what Pitso would do next however, the 57-year-old South African exclusively stated that he would be shocked if he did not renew saying, “I believe we will renew, if we don’t renew I’ll be surprised”.

Pitso then joked, “I’ll repeat to the next guy [who comes along], I don’t know what you’ll have to win.” This comes after he won back-to-back CAF Champions Leagues, CAF Super Cups and bronze medals at the World Club Cup as well as an Egyptian Premier League title, all in the space of 18 months.

Pitso went on to talk about two key Al Ahly players, Mohamed Abdelmoniem and Alou Dieng, with the later being approached and congratulated by N’Golo Kante at the World Club Cup awards ceremonies, with both players hailing from Mali.

Mosimane was full of praise for 23-year-old Abdelmoniem who recalled from his loan spell at Future FC to Al Ahly after an excellent Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which saw him gain admiration globally.

Pitso believes that Abdelmoniem will be touted by big clubs in Europe as he said, “I think he’s a European [level] player, he’ll play in Europe, he’s quick, he’s young, he’s got a leap, he can jump, he can pass, he’s so comfortable on the ball.”
