Speaking about a move to Zamalek, Ary Papel’s agent, Jesse Rodriguez, revealed that the player is set to join the Cairo giants but says the transfer has been stalled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Ary [Papel] has been a free agent since last month,” Rodriguez told ON Time Sports. “We’ve been negotiating with Zamalek during this time.
“The coronavirus has definitely affected the transfer to Zamalek but they are the only club my player wants to represent.
“We haven’t signed a deal yet with Zamalek. Ary didn’t undergo the medical tests yet and we still have to go over there and sign the contract but coronavirus is stopping us from finalizing the transfer.
“If things go well, then Ary [Papel] will be a Zamalek player soon,” he added.
Papel has had a respectable season with Primeiro de Agosto, scoring once in eight CAF Champions League appearances.
The 26-year-old has also represented Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, featuring in 31 games for their reserves squad, but failed to make an appearance for the first team.
