The Egyptian handball national team manager Roberto Garcia has named a 20-man squad that will accompany him to Tokyo to participate in the 2020 Olympics, scheduled to start on July 23.
Egypt qualified for the tournament after lifting the 2020 Africa Men’s Handball Championship.
As the topped ranked team in Africa, they did not have to compete in any of the qualifying tournaments, meaning they secured direct qualification.
The Pharaohs were drawn in Group B with two of the strongest nations in the likes of Denmark and Sweden. Egypt had faced the two teams in the World Championship earlier this year which was held in Egypt and were a tough competition to the two sides.
Garcia’s men are expected to fly to Spain shortly to hold a closed camp to prepare for the tournament with two friendly matches against Croatia and Spain.
