Former Al Ahly captain hails Mosimane

Pitso Mosimane

Former Al Ahly captain Shady Mohamed has highly praised the Red Devils South African manager for his results with the team since his arrival in October 2020, saying that the decision to bring him to the club was perfect.

Mohamed Sherif’s second-half strike against Tunisia’s Esperance was enough for Al Ahly to secure the first leg win in the CAF Champions League semi-finals, giving them a big advantage going into the second leg.

The Reds now need a draw in Egypt in order to reach the Champions League final for the second consecutive year, where they will face either Wydad Casablanca or Kaizer Chiefs.

This would be Mosimane’s second African final in the span of few months after clinching the Champions League title in November.

Additionally, he also triumphed the Egypt Cup, the African Super Cup and achieved the third place in the Club World Cup.

“Mosimane is a great coach and the decision to choose him was genius. He was the most adequate option available back at the time,” Mohamed told Al Ahly TV.

“He [Mosimane] arrived at Al Ahly knowing how valuable the club is while being very familiar to the atmosphere in Africa. He will make history with time. His ambition is to win the Club World Cup.”
