Mortada Mansour calls for Zamalek board to hold emergency meeting

Zamalek have revealed that Mortada Mansour decided to hold an emergency meeting to address a number of issues.

Mansour had left the club temporarily after he was sentenced to one month in jail for verbally insulting Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib.

The club’s board of directors then appointed Soliman Wahdan as the club’s interim chairman before Mansour made his return as chairman.

However, he was officially displaced from his role as Zamalek president by the Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi last week.

Just days after his dismissal, Zamalek released a statement in which they referred to Mansour as the club’s president and disclosed that the 70-year-old called for an emergency meeting.

“The president of Zamalek, Mortada Mansour, invited the board of directors to hold an emergency meeting on Sunday, April 30th to discuss many issues related to the club,” the statement read.

The White Knights recently earned their first victory under new head coach Juan Osorio beating Ceramica Cleopatra 1-0 on Wednesday.
