Arsenal and Spurs forwards on Al Ahli Jeddah radar

Saudi giants Ahli Jeddah are said to be interested in Premier League Brazilian strikers Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison.

Al Ahli are yet to make a signing this summer, with Allan Saint-Maximin leaving the club last week to join Fenerbahçe on a season-long loan.

Two names have emerged as potential replacements for the Frenchman in Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison of Tottenham, according to Saudi publication Arriyadiyah.

The report added that Al Ahli’s German coach Matthias Jaissle is currently assessing the feasibility of signing one of the players before giving his technical approval, and if the players don’t suit his tactics, the club will turn to signing a left winger or a striker.

Gabriel Jesus had an underwhelming last season with the Gunners, scoring just eight goals in 36 games, but it’s believed to still be in Mikel Arteta’s plans as he scored Arsenal’s first pre-season goal of the summer in a recent win over Leyton Orient.

Meanwhile, Richarlison had a slightly better season than his compatriot Jesus, netting 12 goals in 31 games for Spurs as the club just missed out on a top-four finish to Aston Villa.

Both Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison missed out on Brazil’s Copa America squad as the five-time World champions were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Uruguay.

Al Ahly are keen on reinforcing their squad ahead of a long season that will see them participate in four different competitions, the AFC Champions League, the Saudi Pro League, the King’s Cup, and the Saudi Super Cup.

The club finished third in the Saudi Pro League last season and they will hope to push for the title which they haven’t won since 2016.
